CITY FLOW

The population of Dubai is always on the move. People change houses and switch communities. Some leave, and others arrive in the city for the first time. Our big idea was to analyse and visualise all this data in a dashboard that shows how Dubai’s population is changing and moving. It also shows how communities are performing, and which ones are in demand. Entry and repatriation data shows overall market sentiment and helps project future population growth.

Scope

Build a dashboard showcasing people flows across the city of Dubai, taking into account new arrivals and people going abroad.

Data used

Based on DEWA’s open data records for people moving in and out.

Analysis

The data was investigated to create StayRecords for people residing in Dubai. People flows were derived from changes in these StayRecords, and the results were visualised.

Outcomes

City Flow Dashboard turns utility provider data into a powerful visual tool that helps track community population trends, and shows how Dubai’s residents are moving over time and space. It’s invaluable for city planners, government entities, real estate developers and even new business startups.
